  • I'm a little late writing this review but I had to share how wonderful Zappone's is! My mom and stepfather were visiting me from upstate NY (where I grew up!) Let's just say we know Italian food! We went early on a week night and were immediately greeted by the hostess, who I believe is the owner. I ordered a delicious Limoncello Sangria and truffle parmesan chips to start. I will eat anything with truffle oil on it! These were out of this world! They were home made chips that we're so tasty. For entrees I ordered the wild mushroom fettuccine with you gussed it, truffle oil! My parents each had the special of spaghetti and meatballs. It was ridiculously cheap and a huge portion for like $6. My mom said it reminded her of my great grandmother's sauce when she was a child. My great grandmother was from Italy, so that is a huge compliment. We all agreed it's better than any Italian food we ever had in NY! For dessert I had canollis!! You can rarely find decent ones in Phoenix so I was pleasantly surprised to see them on the menu. A few days later my stepfather stopped in for a pizza while my mom and I were out shopping. I had a leftover slice and it's definitely the NY pizza I miss being in AZ. You won't be disappointed if you stop by and it's so nice to support a locally owned family business! I can't wait to bring my husband to try it out on date night.
