  • The Worst Kinpton experience I've ever had, and I generally love Kimpton. I was made to feel like some kind of second class citizen because my client was paying for my room, not me. Toni or Teri or whatever her name is took the greatest pleasure in telling me multiple times that I wasn't entitled to any InTouch perks or credit of any kind for the stay. Then I get one of the most uncomfortable hotel rooms I have ever experienced (and I travel upwards of 260 nights a year, I have for several decades in fact). I'll hit the high points. there were Zero comfortable seating surfaces in the room only two truly awful desk chairs. There was no desk to accompany the awful chairs only a tiny ugly oval table. The bed sported on e of the worst mattresses I've ever felt. The shower was beyond bad, low pressure, tepid water temperature and no door! I guess they think the lack of a door is hip. Every sound from the outside and from the hallway was faithfully reproduced in glorious high fidelity in the rooms interior by the magic of sound amplifying walls! There was a lovely big cigarette burn in the carpet directly in front of the bed (sure it's a smoke free hotel). looked like there were some poorly cleaned up blood stains on the carpet as well. I never tried the restaurant because the menu looked awful, but luckily the location is pretty good for finding nearby food purveyors. All in all next time I am picking up the hotel tab, I will not be staying at the Palomar. I guess the Holiday Inn takeover is a little more than peripheral! Perhaps new management is in order.
