| - I was looking forward to experiencing the Mandarin Bar. Reviews call this one of the best bars in Las Vegas, having great views of the Strip, professional service, fabulous design, and good jazz. Huh? What happened? Armageddon.
Certainly the view was outstanding. Yet, there was nothing special about the design, and the clientele reminded me of the folks who frequent Felix at the Peninsula in Hong Kong. This is not a warm and fuzzy drinking hole. Service was absent, as if the bartenders were actually robots. I wanted to poke one of them to see if I would hit metal. I ordered a Stoli Elite martini. I know my vodka, I've been drinking for 50 years, my martini had vodka, but it was not Stoli Elite. He did not prepare my cocktail in front of me. He went to a back room. That's not cool. As for the music, there was none.
My experience validated my choice to stay at the Four Seasons Las Vegas. I was considering the Mandarin Oriental. Give me the Four Seasons every time.
