  • Pittsburghers have a great venue here. We came in from out of town and caught a concert. The sound was great so can only imagine how the symphony sounds. We assumed that Mr. Heinz built this majestic hall as a monument, but the truth is much more flattering. Built in 1926 as luxury movie theater, it fell into disrepair. Heinz and others rescued it in 1967 and outfitted with acoustic baffles to convert it to a concert hall. The decor is extravagant with ornamental features like crystal chandeliers and gilded high ceilings. The Ladies lounge is just that, with a fireplace and large sitting room with red velvet seating. There is marble and gold leaf features in abundance. Take time to explore all levels, there are bars and seating areas everywhere. We saw Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music and it was a great concert. The band took us back to the 80s; the decor took us back to the 20s.
