  • I feel like you don't really appreciate La Distillerie enough until you've had a couple of bad cocktails and you're desperately looking for a quick rince for your mouth to end off your night. ~*~*~*~*~ *Side track for a bit* That being said, I had a pretty bad experience at Le Miracle Montreal (the pop-up Christmas bar that's been WAYYYY overhyped on MTLBlog). For those of you who are captivated by those festive pictures of that bar all over social media, don't bother going. The drinks were definitely not worth $15 each, and it was so jam packed with tacky decorations might I say. The girls who were sitting across from me barely touched their drinks. That should've been my warning. Save your money and go to La Distillerie instead across the street. ~*~*~*~*~ Back to the actual review of Distillerie, I would say 80% of the time, the drinks are not disappointing. The only disappointing thing is probably the long lines. However, if you happen to be able to go at a time where there are no lines, I would say you would have a pretty decent experience. There are plenty of cocktails at this bar where you can't go wrong with, like their Piña colada, Chupa Chupa, Mohawk, and many more. I would say my only bad experience one time was when I ordered some drink with egg whites in it and it ended up tasting like mouthwash. I had to buy a mason jar of goldfish crackers to wash down the taste. Despite the tight space, it's still pretty clean and cozy, and the noise level is usually acceptable enough to hold a comfortable conversation. I recommend sitting at the bar because you get quite a show from watching the bartenders pour 4 bottles at once, and by the end of it I just felt like I had terribly small hands and weak arms. Whether you're visiting Montreal, accompanying friends who are visiting Montreal, or just looking for a decent cocktail bar with mason jars being that kind of thing that's up your alley, La Distillerie is definitely your safest bet.
