  • I came in from out of town for a wedding which I was maid of honor in. So, this review reflects the styling services. I was nervous to find a salon, but the bride was getting her hair done here, so she just booked me an appointment as well. First, expect the stylist to rush you out. I came in 15 minutes late because the bride had a wild night before. Of course, I understand that some complex hairstyles can take upwards to an hour. I have shoulder length thin hair. Shouldn't be too hard to fix. So, my stylist says we'll just do curls. She didn't even take the time to do any other sort of consultation. Second, the stylist did mediocre staying AT BEST. When I say "at best," I mean, don't even bother coming here because you can do a better job yourself. The stylist ended up curling my hair and setting each curl with pins. Great, because they're supposed to hold the curl for longer. I take the pins out 3 hours later and my hair looks like s disaster. There was no consistency in the curl. Literally, horrendous. I'm relieved I didn't book a makeup appointment with Alan Koa. Yikes. Third, you're paying for what should be a premium service. You're not receiving it. The hair do was sloppy, unprofessional, and ultimately reflects the salon's message: they don't care about the end product, they just want your money. I ended up paying 60 bucks for curled hair that didn't even look nice. All in all, I finished my service at Alan Koa feeling more stressed than I did walking in. Not a good reflection on the salon. My hair looked sloppy, and I could've done it myself more professionally. I wouldn't recommend coming to Alan Koa for hair styling services. I can't speak for any other services, but I know for a fact I will never recommend coming here after my experience. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. I was so looking forward to this day, and it certainly did not start off on the right foot.
