  • Recently went to this place for the first time. It was a great experience! We went at 8pm on a Friday, and it was busy but not overcrowded. There is both indoor and outdoor seating - we opted to sit outside. The ambiance is really inviting and feels festive, with colorful string lights and decorations; plus, it's right across from Frick Park which makes for a nice view. It is BYOB. We didn't realize this ahead of time, but I didn't miss having a drink at all because I was too focused on the amazing food. We started with the small cold appetizer platter, which has hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouli, haydari (a yogurt dip with spices) and a bean salad. It came with a basket of AMAZING fresh hot pita bread and they kept bringing us refills of pita bread throughout the meal. I highly recommend the appetizer platter - it was awesome to be able to try all of the different dips. My favorites were the baba ghanoush and the haydari, although all of them were fantastic. I could have eaten just this for my meal and been oh so happy. For the entree, I ordered the doner kebab and my husband got the izgara kofte. The meat on my doner kebab was tender and well seasoned. It came with rice, a small salad and pickled cabbage (?) and peppers. The izgara kofte was patties of lamb and beef, also over rice with the same sides. I tried this and I have to say I liked it better than my meal, although both were delicious. The entrees are huge! I easily got two meals out of mine. We got the baklava for dessert. It had a succulent glaze upon the delicate flaky layers which embedded a delicious nutty mix. That's a direct quote from my husband because I was too full to eat another bite at this point. You get four good-sized pieces of baklava for $6. We went home with three big takeout boxes full of leftovers. The best part was that they gave us a whole new fresh box of pita bread to take home. A++. The service was very good, and the owner even came around while we were finishing to introduce himself and make sure we enjoyed our meal. I can't wait to go back.
