  • AWFUL DRY CLEANERS!!! The worst decision I ever made was taking my brand new Ralph Lauren Quilt to this place. I had received the quilt the previous day. Since I like to wash brand new items before using them and my washing machine couldn't handle a quilt this size, I decided to bring it to Al Philips. I had never been to the dry cleaners or Al Philips before but have one right around the corner from where I live and decided to give it a shot. As soon as I walked in, I felt uncomfortable. The hispanic lady at the front of the store seemed bored and didn't bother saying hi when I walked in. Before I handed my quilt over, I asked what happens if an item gets damaged while in Al Philips's care and if 'accidents' happened very often. As soon as I started asking questions, she shoved some type of contract/paper in front of me and asked me to sign it. Basically, the paper said that Al Philips would not be held responsible if the quilt was torn or the colors faded during washing/drying. I was really uncomfortable signing that paper but since I couldn't wash the quilt at home myself and didn't know of any other and/or better dry cleaners in the area....I went ahead and signed the paper, before handing my quilt over. I was told that it would take 3 days to wash/dry my quilt but it ended up taking close to 5 days. No clue why. When I went to pick it up, the quilt was already folded and stored in a bag and since I didn't want to take the quilt out of the bag and have it rub against their dirty floor or their counters...I decided to check it over when I got home. As soon as I took the quilt out of the bag, I noticed that the colors had REALLY faded on the front/top of the quilt and when I turned it over, I literally almost punched the wall because there was a HUGE HOLE at the bottom. Obviously, since I had signed a paper which stated that Al Philips would not be held responsible if there was any damage to my item while in their care......I couldn't do anything about the hole or the fading of colors. I'm sure all the ladies at Al Philips were laughing their butts off as I was leaving the store, knowing I would discover the damage once I arrived home and couldn't do anything about it. After all, they weren't the most charming, friendly, or professional women I've ever encountered and I'm sure they think it's funny when people like me bring in expensive bedding/clothes, etc and they get to damage the items without any consequences. Lesson learned.....I won't ever go back to Al Philips and I'd rather pay a ton of money to get my bedding washed professionally, rather than trust a local store that offers tons of coupons and low prices. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AL PHILIPS AT ALL!!!! WORST PLACE EVER!!!
