I was recently visiting Montreal and decided to check this place out. It's a bit of a trek from the city center in a somewhat shabby area. The store is on a second floor and after walking up a flight of stairs, one enters a dimly lit area and is hit with the smell of strong incense. The store appears to have a healthy stock of records, most of which line a shelf making for very tedious digging. I hunt classical and the bookshelf type setup coupled with very poor lighting made this all a chore which I gave up on within 15 minutes. There were a few crates on the floor containing lps but given the lack of lighting, I could not tell exactly what was inside of those crates. Most of what I did pull off the shelves appeared old and kind of worn. Needless to say, I left empty handed.
I can understand the owners wanting to create a kind of bohemian, counter culture type of environment but heck, this is a retail establishment and people have to see what they are buying!
