  • I stumbled across the soft opening of Feng Cha as I was in the vicinity of Finch and Midland. This pretty little cafe is a franchise originating in China that specializes in teas as well as some desserts like bread and mango flavoured desserts. When I first walked in I was drawn to the decor with rose gold accents, cool light fixtures, mirrors, and white and grey tables and chairs. Even the bathroom has rose gold accents! There is a super cute flower wall that I'm sure will be showcased on various social media platforms (as I am guilty of also doing this). There was also a giant stuffed Line Brown Bear plush sitting on one of the armchairs that I was very tempted to take a picture with but was afraid of disturbing the child who was seated beside the plush bear. The tables are all small (suitable for 2-3 people) and seating is somewhat limited - not ideal for large groups. I ordered the grapefruit jasmine green tea with tapioca and opted for 50% sweetness with no ice. This was very refreshing and had a distinct grapefruit flavour without the bitterness. I could definitely see myself drinking this in the summer. The tapioca was satisfyingly chewy and subtly sweet. My sister's fiancĂ© ordered the panda milk tea which came with sea salt cheese foam, milk black tea, plus tapioca and aiyu jelly. He said it was really good and unlike any drink he's had in BC. Most featured drinks range from $4.99 to $6.99. There is an option to build your own drink, with choice of tea ($3.99), toppings ($0.50 per topping), and foam ($1.99-$2.29). Unique to this place is the option for durian flavoured foam ($2.29). All beverages come in a large size. I like the cute heart shaped cap for what I would guess to be a venting area on the drink lid for hot teas. Breads (not available during my visit) cost $10.99 which I find rather steep in price. I hope they eventually carry some of the cute "little cow" rolls I've seen online and on the franchise's Instagram. I plan to come back to try some of the mango flavoured teas and some of the other featured drink offerings.
