I've heard great things about Muddy Waters, so I've been wanting to check it out.
My friend made reservations on Wednesday night around 6pm - because we hit traffic, we made it to the restaurant around 6:20pm. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, so it wasn't a probably that we got there late. We got seated in a booth, which I preferred because I hate high top tables.
Our waiter (Alon) came to take our drink order, but went over the specials too fast. We ended up ordering a bottle of Pino Griot / they had half off bottles on Wednesdays.
Alon had a bad attitude with us. When we tried to order oysters, he wasn't helpful - we aren't familiar with how to order the various of types of oysters and was looking for some guidance- he didn't share any. He seemed irritated that we had questions about the menu. We ordered some East Coast and West Coast oysters- I enjoyed the East Coast ones better.
We also ordered a couple small places to share - we ordered the hush puppies and Mac n cheese. A few of the hush puppies were uncooked and gooey - they were nothing to write home about. The Mac n cheese was good, but it was a little too spicy for me.
My entree, I ordered the lobster and crawfish roll with a side of fries. The lobster roll was tiny for the price point of $22. I also had some very tough pieces of lobster that made me turn my stomach. The fries were okay, nothing to write home about.
I can understand the appeal of Muddy Waters - I would tell you to try it yourself....And I would go back one day, but not for a while.
