  • Taro Espresso Affogato with Jelly I used to frequent this location many times, and the tea was often just average but it was a nice place to hang out. However after a long hiatus and upon my most recent visit I decided to try some new menu items. The menu appears to have changed and is now in the form of a magazine. Just like before, they continue to offer free popcorn in a small tin can which is nice to snack on. I noticed that they now have new items such as "maccha" drinks and affogato drinks. I typically order the same thing over and over again but this new Taro Espresso Affogato drink really caught my eye so I decided to try it. It really is the best of three worlds. I thought that my drink would be purple with coffee but when it was served it was mainly a malt colour with coffee. One tip is that the drink only comes in a large size so you may want to consider getting it in a take out cup. First sip First sip experience is more than words can describe. The espresso was on point, and when mixed with taro and ice cream the flavour was just heavenly. The espresso was perfect with a bitter edge yet with a nice sweetness to it. My only problem was that when you drink from the draw the ice cream clogs the straw on your initial sip. Other than that the flavour and intensity was just perfect and on point. The jelly added to the bottom of the drink was perfect as well. Initially I thought that it was grass jelly but instead it was regular jelly but made it really fun to drink. The jelly is not the soft type of jelly but the one with the harder gelatin texture with almost no flavour but made the drink perfect. They are perfectly cut into tiny rectangular prisms which leads me to believe that it is not grass jelly but is bubble tea jelly. So to finish it off I highly recommend the Taro Espresso Affogato with jelly!!
