  • Needed a good rub-me-down so I went with a friend to my usual massage spot, which is a good half hour drive from home -- only to find a sign that said they were closed & would reopen in 3 weeks. It wasn't dated, so who knows how much longer it would be... but that wasn't the point. I felt devastated! For 30 seconds anyway, because there are dozens of foot spa massage places throughout the area so it was all about picking out a new one and hoping for the best. Took it to yelp to help me decide, and settled on this one when I found out that this one included hot stones in the masssage with no extra charge! K, let's go! Upon arriving, there was a 10-15 minute wait with a few people standing outside waiting as well. This seemed promising! As we were called in, we walked passed the room divider passed the registrar/hostess into a big dim room that had 15 beds side by side, maybe two feet away from each other. This looked like something from a hospital war scene. I know foot spas are not typically private rooms or anything, but I was a little shocked at how close the beds were together. But we were already here, drove 4 miles north out of Chinatown -- decided to give it a chance and see what this place was about. All the beds were full -- that had to mean something! To skip to the chase, it really was like we were in a hospital war scene. Chaos! The man next to me was snoring very loudly which was very distracting. The serene music that was playing stopped half an hour into my massage which was not only weird, but it left many loud & startling sounds to be heard. Next door is a pizza shop, so I could hear muffled shouting. On the other side is a dog grooming business, so I could hear dogs barking. Every time someone walked in the door, not only did the door make a bell ringing noise, but you could hear their full on conversations since it's just one big room with a separater. Oh! Plus, the masseuses kept talking to each other in Chinese -- often times laughing. My eyes are covered with a towel and I'm in a big dark room with a bunch of strangers and I'm face down inside of a hole while you're touching my body. Awkward, yes. Not only that, but I was asked three times in a row if I wanted to switch from a 60 minute massage to a 90 minute massage. I understand the concept of upselling, but you're killing me right now. Awkward x 2. So I think we're done here. Thanks but I think I'll try a different spot next time -- as least until my go-to place finally opens back up.
