  • On two torrid late June days,I was fortunate enough to enjoy this art museum's splendid collection.This art museum has a wonderful collection of Modern and Contemporary Art.I especially liked their works by Pablo Picasso,Max Ernst,Max Beckmann,Carlos Amorales("Black Clouds"),Tony Oursler,and Yayoi Kusama.This art museum has a wonderful collection of paintings with American Western themes.I especially savored their fine paintings by Robert Henri,Oscar Berninghaus,Ernest Blumenschein,John Sloan,Jonas Lie,Peter Hurd,and Howard Post.Their collection of European paintings is not comprehensive,nevertheless I saw fine paintings by Bicci di Lorenzo("Nativity"),Francesco Ubertini,Marco Palmezzano,Bernardo Strozzi("Doge"),Guisseppe Ribera,Camille Corot,jean Leon Gerome("Police Verso"),Jean J. Henner,Claude Monet("Garden Arches,Giverny"-my favorite work there),and the obscure Pointillist Leon Porteau("Provence Landscape"),just to cite a few..It is open from Wednesday through Sunday with longer hours on Wednesdays and shorter hours on Sundays.Seniors like myself receive a discount on the museum's admission fee.This art museum is very close to the McDowell Phoenix Light Rail station.
