| - I've never, ever written a review online before, but the poor and rude service I received today at Melissa's Grooming has pushed me over the edge, so here I am. This was the 2nd or 3rd time I took my dog to Melissa for grooming. Her location is close to my home so even though I wasn't thrilled with the job she did on my Labradoodle the first time (or two - can't remember), it was good enough for the convenience.
However, today was different. I took my dog in at 9:45 AM and asked approximately when they would be done. I was told probably around 2:00. That seemed like a long time, but at that point, what could I do? I gave instructions about the cut I wanted (not too short; not shaved).
I called at 3:00 and was told he had just been bathed and not yet clipped. She said he would be done within the hour. I said that was a very long time for my dog to be there and was told "other dogs had posed a problem." No apology was given. I went there at almost 4:00 PM and he still wasn't ready. I asked for an explanation and again was told they got backed up due to other dogs not "cooperating." There was no apology and the woman I spoke with seemed very dismissive of my dissatisfaction.
I said that I should have received a call if they were not able to adequately accommodate me and I didn't like that my dog had been there six hours. She said, "that's just the way it is. That happens often." No apologies. I then asked to confirm if this really happens often, because I told her that was very poor customer service and I would consider taking my business elsewhere. Her reply, "You can take your business elsewhere," with a rude smile.
I was shocked and told her so. She said that after 8 years, there was no way she could apologize for everything. Then she charged me $65. When she brought my dog out, about 15 minutes later, he had been shaved short, which was not what I had requested. It's winter and he'll be cold at the park.
I left feeling quite taken advantage of, insulted and disappointed that my convenient location would no longer work for me. And, my dog drank a whole bowl of water when he got home. I suspect that they didn't took him out or care one iota for him while there since they were so busy taking care of the other dogs that "weren't cooperating."
I have no idea if anyone will ever read this or care, but I feel better reporting my disappointing experience at Melissa's Grooming.
