I have been in my apartment for not quite 2 months. Had my power turned on November 1st and my first bill was $138. That included a Monthly charge of $57 and a deposit of $75 and a $6.30 " miscellaneous " fee. As i was monitoring the current charge and monthly estimate in month 2, the amount was already $68 only 4 days into the month. I talked to them twice and they sent someone to read the meter and said the meter was reading within standards. I have a small one bedroom apartment and am the only resident here. I am not home during the week and turn everything off while i'm away. During the weekend, i am usually not home most of the day. I don't keep the heater on most of when i am home. The online statement said my estimated charge for the month would be between $123 to $228. How does the power go from $57 to 4x that with no changes to my usage? Now when i try to check online, there is no data available. I know someone who has a 2-story house, someone home all day, and a pool pump constantly running and there estimated bill is just over $140. What sense does that make? I'm sure these jokes will also get their bi-annual rate hike approved and it will continue to get worse. Legalized robbery for sure.
