  • Let me first say, I love Gordon Ramsay. I think he is a fantastic chef and watch him all the time. So when I was planning my anniversary trip it was a must that we eat in at least one of Gordon's restaurants. So we decided on the Pub & Grill because my girlfriend really wanted the fish and chips after seeing him make his recipe on one of his shows. I ordered the Shepard's Pie with cheddar mashed potatoes. Then we ended the meal with the lemon raspberry tart. The negatives: we made a reservation weeks in advance and were placed directly next to kitchen. There was also a store room where chairs were paraded in and out throughout our hour there. I don't know if they get a lot of walk ins or if they are primarily reservations, but making a reservation should ensure you don't get placed in the worst seat in the house. Maybe that's an unspoken rule that this restaurant doesn't acknowledge. The fish and chips were ridiculously greasy. I understand fried food is greasy but I pinched off a small bit and had grease running down my arm. Parts of the batter were raw which is never pleasant to bite into. The Lemon Raspberry tart did not arrive per the menu description and the staff did not mention any changes to the menu. I get that ingredients sometimes run out but there wasn't even any raspberry on the tart. It was supposed to have a jam and compote, but instead it came with some fresh strawberry and blueberries with a dollop of whip. Not bad just not as expected. On the plus side: The wait staff was amazing. The food came out hot and delicious in a matter of minutes. The shepard's pie was perfect in every delightful morsel of a way. The atmosphere at the restaurant was great and cool for a pub. The cod was cooked perfectly and the fries were great. I had never had smashed peas and they are a new fav.
