  • A great place to stop that is halfway between the Hoover Dam and Vegas. Stop in for your free sample of chocolate (I recommend the pecan brittle), watch the production line of chocolate, pick up some souvenirs and stroll around the cactus garden. All of the employees will be welcoming and tell you how proud they are of the factory and of the matriarch Ethel Mars behind it. I was expecting a bit more of an interactive tour rather than a two minute (if that) self guided tour past some windows..... but hey it is a free tour. They had some chocolate Las Vegas style coins that make for nice souvenirs. We enjoyed walking around the quite extensive cactus garden after making our purchases. I managed to avoid getting the chocolate covered strawberries and pretzel rods as I have been having way too many sweets on this trip but they looked delicious. Note that this does appear to be a destination for tour buses - not that that is a bad thing - but when we went there were two large buses of folks visiting from Korea that had recently arrived at the same time.
