Pappadeaux's a bit difficult to get to but you would expect it to be difficult to find Cajun food this far west. Really popular place for the weekend crowd but if you call about 15 minutes before arriving they will put you on the wait list so that's nice. Decor is pretty good but the dining room is so big it sort of feels like a factory, maximize the number of times the tables can be filled and flipped.
Well, that's enough about that...bar was kind of disappointing especially since they do not carry any southern beers, no Abita no Dixie. I was actually surprised about the beer selection being so sparse, if I remember correctly 8 choices, nothing really a standout. The food....it was ok. She had the steak...a rib eye if I remember correctly, it was not a 37$ steak by any means. Presentation was not great at all meat looked lumpy and misshapen. I had the crawfish étouffée and fried crawfish. It was ok...really nothing special. Étouffée was by far much better than the fried but I did not walk away waiting to come back again. For a starter I had a dozen raw oysters on the half shell. They were the highlight of the night by far. Nothing else really wowed either of us.
Bottom line: if you're craving some Cajun this is the place to go in the phoenix area, but you will probably not leave feeling like you just had a memorable experience.
