| - Signature Nails only has one review. Crazy, because they are constantly busy. I've been twice now. The first time was unremarkable, so no review was needed; I got a basic mani using Essie - Sugar Daddy on short nails, so - really, no way you can mess that up. The second time I went is what warrants this review. Let's start with the bad, then move on to the good.
The Bad:
- I booked for 6:00pm, didn't get seated till 6:45pm. I had to wait for two pedicures to be completed first.
- It's a hole in the wall. Signature Nails is not The 10 Spot. Do not go in looking for Lippmann polish, a cup of artisanal green tea, or a current iPod playlist. Instead you will get old InTouch magazines, CHFI on the radio, and a convenience store next door that sells cans of cold Arizonas for $0.99.
The Good:
- First and foremost, I stopped giving a crap about the above the minute I sat down and my nail tech (who's name escapes me) picked my colour for me. I told her I wanted a shade close to my skin-tone. She looked at me for a second and told me "No. Bright pink. You are a bright pink girl". She then proceeded to pick out my favourite pink color (bright coral-leaning pink creme).
- I booked a soak-off gel mani. I have previously gotten OPI Gelcolor and liked it (like being the important word. It started wearing at the tips after 4 days and chipping on one nail. Also, it showed cracks, which is...odd). I asked for OPI Gelcolor, but they have a limited selection. I asked about CND Shellac; she shook her head 'no' (this is good, seeing as I've had Shellac that peeled off, and friends who have found the same). She showed me an Asian brand of soak off gel, told me it was good, so I agreed.
- I'm on Day 5 now and my nails look PERFECT. No chipping, no tip wear, nothing.
- The application was PERFECT
- The polish is even, smooth, the colour is still bright and clear looking.
- Tip-in, my manicure was $40. Awesome.
Long story short, Signature Nails isn't ambiance or style. It's not cool or luxe. But it is hands-down the best soak-off gel manicure I have ever had. Cheap, clean, precise, long-lasting. Friendly ladies who take their time and make sure every nail looks great. I will be going back again and again.
