  • The Fillmore is an attractive venue with well-known acts, but I have found my experiences there to be rather hit-or-miss. On our last visit, we arrived within thirty minutes of "doors," and there was still a line stretching down the sidewalk. When we finally reached the front of the line, the slow-down was apparent; the security checkpoint was divided into two lines with two stations apiece, but the front line of metal detection wand-bearers weren't sending guests to the second line. So only two people were being vetted at any given time, thanks to that long ramp they have at entry. I was shocked the security was organized so poorly. Even though we arrived thirty minutes before the opener's set began, it was halfway through their set when we finally got inside. Once inside, it's pretty clear that they oversell this venue. It was packed. And, it has to be said, the Fillmore crowd is a high-maintenance, stuck-up group of people. When you cram 2,000+ overpaid hipsters into one room, it's exhausting. The tiered layout is great and I wish more venues would take a page out of the Fillmore's book in that respect. You don't have to elbow your way to the front for a good view. You're not getting through an evening at the Fillmore on the cheap. These are some of the priciest tickets in town, and the food and drinks are no exception. Oh, and now that AvidXchange is across the street, there doesn't seem to be any more free parking. The Fillmore is what it is. Not the best spot in town, but not the worst, either.
