As an older rider, attitude is important to me. This neighborhood store has the right one. I've been in several times ogling the Specialized road bikes and accessories with no intention of purchasing but the staff always had time to answer questions. When people came in as I was there they were greeted, often by first name. None of the staff was ever 'too cool' to answer questions, as has been the case elsewhere in the past.
I finally made a purchase yesterday. My bike was put on the service rack, adjusted, and I figured I was on my way. I was then told that the bike and I would be fitted. Now, in the past that meant straddling the bike and if I could do that without injury to certain parts of my anatomy, the bike fit. Not here. The bike was put on an indoor trainer and the fitting process began. Measurements were taken, adjustments were made and remade. On and off the bike I went until everyone was satisfied. About an hour later the bike and I were on our way.
This place has everything you look for in a bike store. At the risk of sounding cliche, it has a good vibe. They are good people who really know their bikes, from the man who spent a lot of time showing me the bike not knowing if I was window shopping or buying to the man who fitted me to the bike. No hurries or hassle. Go there.
