The Tuck Shop exemplifies "intimate atmosphere". A small bungalow house with low ceilings, low lighting, and comfortable seating including a couch. The atmosphere is simultaneously casual, but somehow formal. I get the distinct impression that these people take pride in their place.
The cocktails are excellent. Expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 for a unique creation. The appetizers and small plates seem to always draw me in more than the full size entrees, and are always exceptional. The cheese curds have the classic squeak to them, and the mac and cheese is in the running for the best in the valley. Try the risotto balls or, even better, the risotto. Appetizer plates start at around $10-12. Expect to pay more for entrees, starting in the low $20 range, with the majority being in the mid $20 zone.
If you want semi-formal but casual and intimate atmosphere with very friendly professional staff and a well thought out menu that does not overwhelm look no further.
