| - This is the only buffet i've ever been to that requires the simultaneous use of focus, attention, planning, and execution. I would be doing you no favors by listing the food I ate; unless you also ate dinner there on July 29th, i'm sure there will be something different. And if you did eat dinner there on that night, hey, nice to see you again, want me to remind you what you probably ate?
How to plan, manage, and ultimately win at Bacchanal Buffet:
1. Get there early, knowing you will probably wait. A lot. Especially for dinner. The phrase "hey let's grab a quick dinner Bacchanal Buffet" isn't a thing.
2. Enjoy your wait. Take your ticket, walk around. Or, ask the hostess if there is "anything that can be done" to get in the line earlier because of "an amazing reason that is totally true." Our reason was ehh but it still worked. It was true, at the very least; we had a show to attend to.
3. Take a seat. You are officially on the clock, but, thankfully, this isn't the NFL draft and you have more than 10 minutes to do something.
4. Get some water, then go exploring. Visit the stations before you start piling food on a plate. Smell the smells.
5. Prioritize food you wouldn't normally get at home. Example: I can only assume Las Vegas pizza would be generally not as good as any slice I could routinely get in NYC, so I stayed away. However, the variety of dishes from the far east and a great deal of interesting seafood and carved meats peaked my interest, so that's where I gravitated.
6. Get a plate, and fill it with appetizer sized portions of a lot of different things. One or two dumplings, not 6. Easy there buddy.
7. STAY AWAY from the bread. You have bread everywhere. Don't fill yourself up on it.
8. Hit the meat and the seafood early. Depending on where you are sitting, that may be the farthest station from you. This is where the ROI is strongest, so enjoy a non-appetizer sized portion of crab legs. You've earned it.
9. Hey! Stay away from the bread!
10. Once you've finished round 1, grab your next plate. Get larger portions of things you really liked, maybe a few more small things to try. Don't forget to really go to town on the carving station and the seafood.
11. Eat at a normal pace, relax, have some water.
12. Full? Too bad. Go to the dessert area and go nuts. Big plate, small plate, bowl. Want some crepes? Done. Ice cream? Yup. Four varieties of chocolate covered strawberries? Indeed. Cake? Absolutely.
13. NOW you are full. You just won. Leave a tip, move on to the next activity of the evening.
For me, the highlights were definitely the carved meats, dumplings/asian food, and seafood. Pizza was pizza, sushi was sushi, pasta was pasta. There were more choices than I could really attend to, but I made an attempt to at least try as much as I could.
Come hungry, eat, and enjoy.
