  • I was moved to write this because I find it difficult to understand all the negative reviews I've read about Ami Fer. My own experience buying my Wedding Dress at Ami Fer was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. I went with my sister on a Sunday afternoon in October and was greeted kindly by Nina - a woman who knows what she's doing! I brought pictures of dresses I liked from various magazines and told her my budget (1000 to 1500). Right away she found three dresses that she thought I might like. She was very kind and helpful and I really had the sense that she wanted ME to be happy and to choose what suited me and my taste. All the dresses she chose were beautiful and I ended up buying the second one I tried on (by Allure). All the people working appeared truly delighted that I found my dress and we had a blast talking about funny wedding details. Nina also found the perfect veil and head piece and gave me a great deal. I was so happy to have had such a positive experience and encounter with the vibrant staff - we hugged and my sister took a sweet photo of us together (not typically something I would do, but it felt very personal and fun). They said the dress would likely be ready in February. I was nervous waiting for the dress to arrive (due to the negative reviews I had read). True to their word, on February 13th they called to say the dress had arrived!! I picked it up tonight (again all the staff were very helpful, fun, and enthusiastic). There was no pressure to use their alteration service and they were very helpful explaining how to take care of the dress (my wedding is out of town and the dress will be making quite the journey). I can't report on the alteration service as I am having it altered at my own seamstress (closer to my home). Oh, and I found the staff very down to earth (not snobby as I did encounter while looking at dress shops in Ottawa and NYC). I can't comment on other people's terrible experiences, but based on my own very positive experience I can only highly recommend Ami Fer. (Greatest selection of dresses anywhere!!!).
