| - This little hidden gem is too cool. Looks super nondescript from the road, but pull in to the odd little parking lot and step inside -- you're instantly transported to the South Pacific. Or the Caribbean. Or wherever YOUR happy tropical place is.
Bartenders are serious but approachable, which is the perfect combination if you want to end up with a legit cocktail. The recipes are actually even a bit of a secret. The cocktail list is huge and pretty descriptive but they don't list (or tell you when you ask) every ingredient. That being said, don't be so uptight. If there's a certain liquor or fruit or whatever ingredient you absolutely don't like, just say so and they'll steer you clear of it. But definitely try something that sounds weird or unusual or unexpected. Or just get the Painkiller (choose your strength!); their rendition is probably the best you'll get in the Midwest.
They have some beer and some food, but you're not really here for that, are you?
The beer is good (bottles and cans) and they use some of it in cocktails.
The food is fine, this isn't really a restaurant though. It's a bar, and the chips for your nachos aren't going to be freshly made. But, they're there and they're on par with most bars, except here the atmosphere, bartenders, and drinks are infinitely better than at "most bars."
I can't wait to bring more unsuspecting friends here, who are always shocked that this has been right under their nose all along.
