My family and I had dinner here tonight during Restaurant Week. Our thinking was that we could try it to see if we liked it enough to warrant going back. What a disappointment!!! I would HIGHLY suggest not going here during Restaurant Week, which is a shame. The portions appeared to be smaller than usual, the room was overcrowded, food quality suffered, and our service was not great either. I doubt I will be going back to this restaurant and would NOT suggest it. I will expand on all of the above...
I have a feeling their food quality suffered from normal bc of the lower prices and higher demand/levels of customers during rest. week. My NY Strip was tough, and not warm when I received it although it was cooked properly/as requested (med. rare). I have had much better steaks at much less expensive places. Calamari appetizer was overly tough and the portion size was humorous. Ice cream for dessert? Should have passed. VERY poor quality on the ice cream and my wife's cheesecake was no different. My ice cream was the lowest quality bland vanilla I've had in a long time, not to mention it was half melted when I got it. Her salmon was the best thing that hit our table (party of 7) the entire meal. That's not usually what you want to hear about a steak house, particularly one with a $500 tab.
Service was (to me) probably the worst part about the meal. It was a combined lack of effort that had to do with management, kitchen and service staff. The list below highlights some of the things...
-Took 15 min to get my first coca-cola after the rest of our group already had drinks (we all ordered them at the same time). Then I received one refill over the 3 courses of my meal (2 hours) and went most of my meal and after-dinner conversation with an empty glass. Inexcusable even in cheap chain restaurants.
-Side dishes came 5 min before the entrees. Not appetizers which were actually timely just not presented to the right people. Side dishes came 5 minutes before the entrees. Unreal.
-Then the entree plates were presented to the wrong seats and items were mixed on wrong persons plates. (Scallops with the wrong steak.)
-Desserts took 30 min after the table had been bussed from entrees and so forth for no apparent reason which usually means the server messed up somewhere.
-then my sister-in-law had to remind our server that she never received hers and also did not receive her dessert until the entire rest of our party was finished with theirs.
This experience was the absolute last thing I expected from a reputable establishment like Flemmings. I'm extremely disappointed. Oh... And they don't sell/make sweet tea.
