  • I am a Top Chef viewer, and when Daniel Boulud had been on that show as judge, I was excited to try out his restaurant. So, husband and I headed here tonight expecting to be wowed. Sadly, this was not the case. First, the good: 1. Sea scallops---mmmmmm!!! Cooked to perfection, paired with delicious cauliflower. Husband had the Steak Frite, which he said was just OK, but acknowledged this was not a steak house. 2. Cranberry bread that comes in the bread basket is so yummy!!! 3. Sommelier: Gordon was the reason we didn't walk out of the restaurant. He knew his wines, was cordial and made us feel welcome. 4. Cute mini show in the outside lagoon The Bad: 1. Apple dessert- tasted like baby food. 2. Decor/ambiance: crowded table seating; not a very romantic feeling The Ugly: 1. Service! We weren't greeted for 5 minutes and when we were, it was more of a "let's get this over with" kind of conversation. No menu recommendations; no welcome; no interest in attending to us. We had to make a comment that we needed more attentiveness, but we felt that when we made the comment, our server just tried to get us out the door even faster. I can anticipate this at a less ritzy restaurant, but not for the prices/reputation at Brasserie. No restaurant, regardless of rating, can stand on its feet for long if the service is bad. Does Daniel B. know about these bad servers??? With the myriad of choices in LV (and awesome ones, at that), this is one restaurant I will not be going to again.
