| - If you're looking for a late night karaoke bar in downtown Toronto, Freezone Karaoke is a great choice.
Down a flight of stairs, Freezone is situated below ground level in a nondescript building, but walking into the reception area feels like stepping into a friend's basement. Save for the cash register at the counter, the whole establishment provides a homey atmosphere. As a party of four, a small room was only $20 an hour ($5 per person) with no additional charges, paid up-front in cash before allowed access to a private karaoke room. Drinks are also available at the counter (alcoholic and otherwise).
The rooms maintain the friendly atmosphere with their pleather couches and disco lights. As it is a Korean karaoke bar, song selection favored Korean songs, but songs in English were plenty and kept recent with songs released only one to two years before this review. Freezone Karaoke is private rooms only establishment, so there's no chance of embarrassing yourself in front of the whole bar. However the walls are a little thin and we were able to hear the party next door belting out their version of Backstreet's Back.
Overall, Freezone Karaoke (aka. JaYu GongGan Karaoke) offers a pleasant karaoke experience at an affordable price. Staff was pleasant and accommodating; we added an extra half hour to our session and despite going over extra time by 10+ mins, we were still only charged for the additional half hour. Go with close friends. Bring your game, leave your insecurities at home and you'll have an awesome time.
