  • If I had checked the Yelp reviews before we went to Modern Nails, we likely would have gone elsewhere. After checking in, I noticed the star rating was dismal and was shocked -- I don't know that I've ever seen a Yelp score so low. The pictures attached to the negative reviews backed up their claims of poor work, but I'm pleased to say that we did not share the same unfortunate experience. I felt compelled to leave a review to show fellow Yelpers that Modern Nails is not nearly as terrible as the reviews may have you believe. After lunch at Kabab Je, my mother and I walked over to this salon. We were quickly greeted and within moments we were seated in plush pedicure chairs. We did not have an appointment, and I was glad to receive such quick service on a Saturday afternoon. A young woman was in charge of my pedicure. She was gentle and quiet, but still did a very nice job. It's not the best pedi I've ever had, but my polish is even, my cuticles are trimmed, and I got a great leg massage. The Deluxe Spa Pedicure includes a leg mask and hot towel for $25. We felt that the price was perfectly in line with the service we received. As we were getting ready to head out, my mother leaned forward in her chair to inspect the side of her big toe to see if there was a rough patch that hadn't been smoothed out on her skin. Without saying a word, a female employee floated over to her chair, gently scrubbed the rough spot with a pumice block, and applied a moisturizing oil to my mother's toe. I was very impressed with this gesture, especially when we would have left feeling pleased even without that extra touch. Modern Nails is clean and seems to be quite well organized. I'm sorry to see that others had an unfortunate experience here, but I wanted to make it clear that the service is much better than the star rating shows. It's worth a visit and we will be back if we're in the area.
