  • Open Door keeps posting, on Face Book, That I like them. That is very far from the truth. In Septemper we received a letter from them offering us a very nice price for our home sight unseen. We were on a waiting list to move into a retirement home and did not want to have to move twice. My husband kept in touch with Macey from Open Door and sent pictures of our home to her. The end of Feb there was a apartment becoming available for us to move into the end of April beginning of May. My husband contacted Macey and they gave us a offer over $50000.00 less then the original offer so we put it up for sale with a real estate broker. FYI Open Door charges 10% commission. It was getting close to our moving date and we had not gotten a offer. We did not want to leave a empty house so went again to Open Door. This time they offered us 7000.00 more then the last offer but they raised the commission to 12%. I called Macey and told her that if she lowered the commission to 11% we would sign papers now. Macey informed me that she will speak to he coleagues and get back to us. When Open Door makes a offer its only good for 4 or 5 days. Macey never gave us a courtesy of a phone call and when we called found out she was on vacation. It was 2 weeks before our move in date and we panicked and accepted their higher offer with a higher commission which made us get less then their lower offer. They charge you for every little repair such as a $40.00 charge to fix track on sliding closet door. We were asked if we would like the notary to come to our home to sign papers 1 week before moving so we accepted their offer and was charged for that too Move in day my husband received a call that 1 paper was not signed and if he did not sign it. It would not close the next day . We had the movers bringing furniture in and right in the middle of this my husband had to go to sign the papers. This was a very bad experience for us and would never recommend them to anyone
