One of my all-time favorite things to do in Arizona was to go to the zoo and aquarium, luckily these was a two-for-one-deal (an zoo and aquarium all in one). This was my first time visiting this park and I had a wonderful time.
The best time to arrive is early in the morning as the animals are either ready to be fed, or on their way to be. They have more energy in the morning and it beats the heat as well! Man, Arizona was hot as well during the time I was there (summer 2016). The great thing about the park is that parking lot offers tons of parking and its FREE!
Once you walk you through the entrance, you are greeted by beautiful macaws which are hanging on their perches (adorable, see the pictures to believe it).
This park is HUGE and takes about half a day to do everything in you want to do. The aquarium is located indoors and have air conditioner and offers a wide variety of different aquatic animals such as: turtles, sea lions and even the most adorable looking penguins! Don't forget to check out the albino alligator! O hear they have sea lion shows, but unfortunately, I didn't stay for that. The outdoors offers great animal shows such as "feed the birds". This was my favorite part! They were so small and cute, and best of all, the lovely education specialist: Madison, Jenny, Becca, made sure that everyone was having a great time and had an opportunity to feed the birds. I also loved seeing the monkeys.
They have many rides for young children, but be prepared to pay a lot of cash. Unfortunately, they do not offer a price for unlimited rides, so it can get pricey!
They offer a small café in the middle of the park. I would suggest you get a cup and fill it with a lot of ice and then use the eater fountains to fill your cups up (those cafes can easily break your pockets).
Overall, this was way better than the Phoenix zoo. If you are deciding which one to visit, I would suggest this one. You get a lot more bang for your buck here!
Enjoy!
