  • Imagine the Ferry Building Market Place in San Fransisco, now imagine if that were for ants. That's the size comparison of Charlotte's 7th Street Market to San Fran's Market. 7th Street Market isn't literally for ants, but it did initially remind me of the Ferry Building Market, just on a much, much smaller scale. Conveniently located directly off one of the cities transit systems, it's a walk from downtowns bustling Tyron Street but not a bad enough location to keep people away. Visiting on a Friday morning, there were plenty of business looking professions meeting around the community sitting area and the mix of people in a "study/work space." Convenient and free 90 minute parking is located directly next door although 90 minutes sure does go by fast when you're having fun! They've got a piano in the entrance, a shop with body products and a local farmers type market along with a small selection of restaurants (a bakery, creperie, Japanese joint, pizza parlor and grilled cheese shop) plus beer and coffee. It makes for a lovely spot for a casual work breakfast/lunch or study nook (free wifi!). I could see myself grabbing a beer after work here. I don't think I would call this a must visit if you're touring the city, but for locals, this place is a treat. Small, clean, bright and great smelling food.
