  • Originally 1 star I was going to LA Fitness on a trial pass wanting to try their classes but started with my regular workouts. I run and do lean strength straining at home. I love running on the treadmill but when I needed assistance with my workouts (I'm not a machine user) I had asked a personal trainer for ab workouts. He showed me mainly all the core exercises I already knew and a few new ones (I wasn't impressed). Then he went on to ask if I knew my muscle groups and what working out was all about. I told him I do cross train with running yoga and pilates with a little weights. I told him I want to get lean muscle not build. I was specific about my core (the mom bulge) he asked if I had kids and was married. I said yes- one and no I was single. THEN HE SAID "Well you might be able to get trainer then. Women who come in with their guys have a harder time getting trained." WTF?! I blew it over thinking whatever and continued to talk to him about what I might need. He blew off my yoga workouts like it was not needed, then preceded to tell me I need to GAIN muscle. Um, excuse me, I'm pretty sure I told you lean muscle gain and cross train NOT gaining straight muscle workouts. At this point I was done. I think he took my lack of knowledge of muscle building plus my single availability and tried to control the situation. Needless to say he wasted my time ( by this point all my after running energy was wiped, I missed my ab sorkout with his BS and had to finish what I could at home). The place is always filled with either old people or overly dressed-full of makeup and perfume wannabes, there are some decent people there but not enough to make me deal with this overpriced place. I'm moving on. ~~~~~ Moved to 3 stars There was one manager who I had voiced my concerns to and who kept in contact letting me know about changes going on in the gym. He was extremely friendly and very personable. Although I did end up going with a different gym, shout out to Yuri Trump for being amazing and understanding during my experience.
