If you'd like to be treated like an American in Paris with snobbery, nasty looks, and complete lack of service then Cafe Monte is for you. Not only was the hostess rude and uncaring but the food took forever to arrive and was lackluster when it did. The bland omelettes needed salt/pepper badly but we couldn't seem to get any. The coffee tasted like stale diner coffee. It was just an awful experience overall. I don't expect to be treated specially with an infant but do expect some basic understanding.
When I told the hostess my babies hands were ice cold outdoors and we really could use an indoor table, I was told we would now be at the end of the wait list (which was now 45 mins long). No "I'm sorry mam", straight face, inconsiderate tone. She was also unfriendly to my husband when he initially approached her for a table.
My suggestion- dine elsewhere. For $14 an omelette it felt like highway robbery.
Update: the owner was very prompt in responding to our negative experience and offered for us to come try cafe Monte again. We certainly will, as we had heard great things. His attitude was professional and apology sincere. I was impressed with the communication and it assured me our experience wasn't typical.
