Recent birth experience with my wife and now our newborn son here. L&D and post partum provided great care for the most part. HORRIBLE NICU experience. I am a community physician and I in good faith cannot recommend that anyone choose to have their child here. The NICU staff, except for two nurses, were rude, arrogant and incompetent. Each shift seemed to not know what the previous shift had done, kept on getting key vital facts such as the gestational age wrong and had absolutely no plan going forward. Never saw a charge nurse and it was very clear that the NICU physicians were not clear what was going on. Also, the actual lay out of the NICU is horrible. Very far away from post partum and the lobby doors aren't large enough for their own wheelchairs to easily pass through. Honestly, felt as if we were held hostage in the NICU. Only after my wife and I (who are both physicians) threatened to leave AMA did anything actually get done. Not big supporters of breast feeding, they don't have donor breast milk available which is ridiculous in this day and age in such a large city. If you have the option to deliver in a different Las Vegas hospital, I recommend it.
