| - This review is in regards to the sales experience while buying my car, not the service. I will say the service is awesome and I highly recommend them for oil changes and maintenance. The waiting room is huge and full of TVs, free waters and coffee, a popcorn machine, and comfy couches. They are super quick and use iPads to check you in when you arrive for your appointment. The maintenance guys are all nice and professional looking.
The experience while purchasing my vehicle wasn't that great though. We went in after looking online and finding they had an Optima Hybrid, which is what we wanted. The listed price was very fair compared to some of the others. We went in, it was in the shop getting a small scratch fixed but they took us back to look at it. They let us test drive another Optima that wasn't a hybrid just to get a feel for the car. That was all fine. But what I hate most is that sales people know nothing about what they're selling. They don't know what certain features do and they are not educated about the vehicle's performance or anything. I know they're in their role because they're good at "sales" but if you don't know the answer to something, don't freaking make it up. That's not a good way to get a sale because you end up with pissed off customers down the road. But I guess they don't care because they're not the ones that will have to deal with them later. I was told my car would do several different things it does not do.
Anyway, we sat down for a good 3 hours negotiating the deal, this isn't my first rodeo so I knew it would take a while and I knew we were in for some long haggling and questioning of price, etc. etc. All that was exactly as I expected. We finally agreed on a price, I pushed and pushed to know the exact final price because I know it always goes up in financing even after you shake on a final price. They brought out the financing guy and we all agreed to a price and it did not go up after that so I was happy about that. But we couldn't take the car home because it was still being touched up. My salesman told me he would deliver it to me on a Saturday morning when it was supposed to be done.
I was able to take my car back home that I was trading in, and the agreement was my salesman would drive the car to me and then drive back in my old car. Saturday morning came and I heard nothing. I was anxious to get it obviously, so I called the dealership and they said he was off that day. I told them he's supposed to be delivering my new car, so they said they'd have him call me. Finally he called and told me it should be ready in an hour. An hour later I heard nothing. I had things to do but didn't want to leave the house because we were waiting for him. I called again and he reminded me it was his day off but he's going to go in and check on what's taking so long and call me back. I almost felt like he was trying to make me feel bad that I was making him do this on his day off. He's the one this offered in the first place. I didn't hear back for like 2 more hours. I sent him a text and he said it's going to be closer to like 5pm. I was frustrated but just said okay, but that I have now been told 3 different times and it keeps changing. Finally he texts me at almost 6pm telling me he's leaving the dealership and is on his way. He gets to our house and has his buddy following him in another car. He drops off the car and I sign the papers. He goes to get into his buddy's car and I ask isn't he taking my car back?? He totally forgot... That's kind of a big thing to forget. So he gets in my car and leaves. We get in the new car and it smells like cigarette smoke! I'm pretty sure he smoked in our new car on the way over! How rude is that?!? I was pissed but at this point just so over dealing with it that I didn't say anything.
The car is fine, I love it actually, and I'm satisfied with the price I got and feel it was fair. It's just the car buying experience that really needs to be improved. All car salesmen are the same. I just really think if they focused more on the customer a bit and not just making a sale it would really increase their sales because I'd refer friends and family and would become a loyal customer for my life time. Not so much the case, I really don't want to have to deal with any of that again. When I'm ready for a new car I will probably go elsewhere.
