  • There is yet another reason to love Downtown Las Vegas! "The Scintas" playing weekends at the Plaza showroom is a fast-paced, rollicking good time!!! I've had the pleasure of attending almost 50 Las Vegas and Henderson area shows and events in 2016. The Scintas is, without a doubt, among the top entertainment values. The two Scintas - brothers from Buffalo NY - lead a tight, well-rehearsed band of eight including a three piece horn section. The band skillfully supports the show with selections from "Vintage Vegas" to rock to opera. There is something for everyone and most will enjoy everything. The Scintas boys themselves display a wide range of talents including at least six different instruments from mandolin to piano. (My favorite was Frankie on the spoons! When was the last time you watched and listened as a master playing the spoons?) And what Vegas show would deserve tribute without a beautiful babe? (I'm not running for President, so I can say this...) Vocalist Janien Valentine is arguably one of the most beautiful women on any Las Vegas stage. When she enters wearing any one of her amazing dresses, the show is transformed from high-energy to high-class. Janien Valentine is truly a different show within a show. She seriously stands out as the one to watch - now and into the future. The trances created by each costume change are broken only by her golden voice. Angels stop what they're doing to listen when Janien start to sing. Move over Celine, the new generation is here and doing just fine! But, my 5 star rating is more for the show than the venue. The Plaza would be well advised to straighten out their parking situation. Every other venue that hosted a show I attended provided either free parking or validated for patrons. It's not the ten bucks, it's the principle. Folks that go to a show or eat at a restaurant should not have to pay for parking. OK, off my soap box... Back to the boys and the band...This is a show that pleases a wide range of audiences. Music, song, humor, impressions! You'll be saying, "Wait, I want more!" as they move quickly from one number to the next. And then, at the final curtain, you'll want more still!
