On New Year's eve, a buddy and I had dinner at Bistro 101 and then went across the street to the Fisher King Winery for a wine tasting. I believe we were their last customers of 2013. It was snowing outside and quite a pleasant experience, though my friend was feeling melancholy due to romantic problems . . .
I had been to the Fisher King winery about a half dozen times before and had previously tried all their white wines and some of the reds, but I had never done an actual wine tasting there.
My friend tried the whites and I test fired all the reds. The wine tasting is only $5.
I particularly liked the "Perfection" which is a red wine made with Frontenac grapes grown locally and then fortified with brandy (like port is). The "Perfection" was outstanding!!! I bought 4 bottles at the time, and later purchased more and gave a few bottles away and took several bottles to a Super Bowl party. All my friends who have tried "Perfection" quite liked it, including several people who don't particularly like most wines.
There was also a hot spiced red wine made to a family recipe that they feature in the winter that I really liked.
