| - I can't believe I haven't reviewed this movie theater yet. It's definitely my favorite theater in the city at this point - it's kind of a shame that I have to triple check traffic reports or come to later screenings to avoid the traffic that tends to build up here. If it weren't for this I'd drive to this location for all of my movie screenings.
Firstly, their concessions stand is fantastic - of course it isn't really a stand so much as a mini snack shopping area where you walk in, get what you want, pay and head on off to your movie. And it's impossible for me to hate a movie theater that not only serves popcorn and candy but also offers coffee and ice cream. Honestly if the popcorn didn't smell so good I'd get Eddy's ice cream every time I stop in.
Then there's the fact that since this place is still pretty new the seats and screens and so forth haven't been beaten down over time, so coming in to see a movie is quite enjoyable and the theater seats are still fairly comfortable. Speaking of enjoyable screenings: this theater hasn't really fallen victim as much to the plague that is movie theaters blasting film soundtracks so loudly that your ears bleed. As long as they keep that up, they'll always be worth 5 stars in my book!
However, what really puts Cinemark above and beyond other theaters is their awesome customer service, especially having to do with their rain check passes. Let me tell you what i mean. My family once got a set of rain check passes when they couldn't properly show "Avatar" in IMAX (at a different Cinemark location I believe). These passes get you a free movie ticket at any showtime. Of course we managed to lose the passes for a bit, and after we finally found them they sat at home for ages since Cinemark isn't our go-to theater. Well, we finally used the last of them just last night. Think about that - "Avatar" came out 5 years ago, and we just used the last of those passes last night since Cinemark still accepted them. Now that's pretty darn exceptional, in my opinion!
So hey, this place may charge more than places like AMC, but you know what? I only see one movie every three to four months, and I think the rare times I do go out to see one should be a treat and a delightful experience. So as long as this place continues to offer one of the best movie experiences you can get in the city, they're worth every penny in my book.
