I have been wanting to try pizza rock for a while now. Finally went for happy hour and I really enjoyed it. The happy hour prices are great and the food was very good. The service though was lacking. Our server made a comment that she had "17 tables and everyone wants food". Well yes, that's why we come to a restaurant! It took quite a while for the fries and garlic bread to come out.vthere was also a long wait for the pizzas.
We ordered the garlic bread, meatballs, Gorgonzola fries and the CalItalia pizza. The garlic bread was awesome, some of the best I've had. Bread was soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside and it was loaded with garlic. The Gorgonzola fires were also excellent. The flavor was fantastic but I just wished the fries were a little more crispy.
I thought the meatballs were okay, nothing spectacular. The CalItalia pizza was a wonderful combination of three cheeses, fig preserve, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan and a balsamic reduction. The combination of the salty cheese and prosciutto with the sweet fig and balsamic was perfect. My only complaint was the crust was a little underdone for my taste. I will definitely be back for happy hour again.
