| - Today, I went in for my first ever brazillian wax. Just so everyone knows, Slick is located inside the upstairs salon. I made my way there, and was greeted immediately. I walked into a private room, and Antoanette chatted with me; getting to know what experiences I'd had with waxing before. I let her know that I'd never ever had a brazillian wax done before, and she was incredibly kind, patient, and accommodating.
The decor was very calming, and there was a really pleasant smell walking in. There was even some really deep, chillstep playing. Antoanette was honest and upfront about her experience in Europe, and it was lovely to learn about her. I wasn't in much pain, and when she was done, she applied some baby powder to my skin to keep it from chaffing.
I put my things down, and it began. She talked me through each step, letting me know which wax was for what, and why she was using the methods she was. She explained that no reputable person who waxes will double dip their sticks. I'll be honest ladies, this was painful, but not for long.
I followed her every instruction, and although it seems like it's awkward to be waist down naked in front of someone you've just met, she made me feel comfortable. We chatted away throughout the process, and Antoanette was absolutely right; it's not that it is painful or that it hurts very much, it stings a little, for a short period of time. It's a very similar sensation to when you get your eyebrows waxed; but on a much larger surface area. She was quick, but thorough. I was very nervous, but Antoanette made sure to reassure me that I was doing great, and that it would be over very soon! It sounds like this took forever, but in reality it took literally ten minutes. Yes, ladies, this is a pretty expensive wax, but you get what you pay for; and what you pay for here, is impeccable service, speediness, patience, and skin that is smooth beyond belief. I'll definitely be returning!
