| - Passive aggressive, racist front desk clerk. We had booked this place on Booking.com for two nights and chose not to come the first night because we had the flu and decided to sleep in our own beds. When we called the hotel, we already knew we were going to eat the first night so we asked the front desk person if we could check in at 12 noon or 1 pm (since we already paid the first night). He said yes.
When we arrived the next day, the woman working the front desk said that she had no rooms and that we couldn't check in until 3 pm. Really? Didn't we already pay for a room that you then resold? Shady. Then, surprise, 3 White people show up at 1:50 pm and not only does she check them in, she gave them a bottle of water! I think this obvious racism is ironic given that I believe the owners are East Asian, as am I. Look, you may think microaggressions aren't obvious, but they are.
She told us that if we didn't like it that we should stay at another hotel instead. Well, we are now. We booked the Homewood Suites while we sat there in the lobby and are much happier.
No matter how affordable the rooms may be, I'd rather pay to stay somewhere else with better customer service.
