Booked my rental car 6 weeks in advance and called the main desk at the phoenix airport to make sure my debit card would be accepted before booking, to which I was reassured that there would be no issue if I had my return flight and a US address. I arrived at the main desk to spend 15minutes going through all my information be told that they couldn't accept my debit card and I would have to go elsewhere and they could not back up what their staff member said on the phone. Of course all of the other car rental companies are extortionately expensive when you book last minute. Furious at the inconsistencies! Will not be using Avis again, nor would I advise anyone to use them
