I went in a week ago on 8/15 to see the dogs in hoping I would find a friend that I could take home soon. Upon entering, I was greeted by two volunteers. One was a older, heavy set man and the other was an extremely unpleasant woman with reddish brown hair. From the first moment I stepped in, she just eyeing me like I was going to steal something. The gentleman asked me to sign in, and then told me where the dogs were. I went back and saw a small dog named Chibbs. I asked to see him. I was then asked to fill out an application. Since I was looking to adopt soon, I just went with it. After 10 minutes of filling out the form, I was asked to wait for an adoption counselor. Alex, the counselor, took me outside, and we had a short interview. After passing that, I was finally able to meet the dog. I had a great time with the dog and he seemed to like me. Alex let me know he couldn't hold the dog for more than 24 hrs. Understanding that, I kept tabs online hoping the dog was still available. Today, he was! Hooray! I called to hold him and pay the holding fee of $20. I called for Alex as instructed the week before and was told that he would call back. I also asked if Chibbs was still available, and he was. I was told he would call asap to take care of everything. After a few hours of not hearing anything, I called in. Chibbs was adopted out. Screw you, Sun Valley! Your volunteers that I had the displeasure of dealing with are just the worst. I sincerely hope that the management/owner of the shelter reaches out to me. If they read this and don't, it's a true sign that they really don't care about the pet owner experience.
