"2016-03-07T00:00:00"^^ . "8"^^ . "I've been a Goodlife member for about 5 years and I used to consistently go to this location until my locker was broken into. This review is more of an advice for what to do if your stuff gets stolen - and hope that someone from the corporate office can read this and rethink about how they deal with thefts in the future.\n\nI was finishing up at the gym around 8:30pm - a time when there weren't that many people there, and while showering, my locker was broken into and my gym bag was stolen - which was carrying my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. Thankfully, he didn't steal my clothes.\n\nI went to the front desk and the staff was quite helpful and assured me that there are cameras installed all over the facilities so it shouldn't be hard to track down where my gym bag went. It's a fairly large bag that's hard to hide, so after I gave them some detailed information, I went home thinking I had a good shot at getting it back. The staff just told me to call management and wait till I hear a response. I called management right away and left a voicemail.\n\nThe next day, I didn't hear from them and I called the gym and they said the manager will call me back. He never did. I got fed up of waiting so I went into the gym myself the next day, and the staff asked me to wait by the couch. I saw the assistant general manager and by that point I was irritated that a theft wasn't being taken care of seriously - and my meeting with him made me realize that he actually couldn't have cared less.\n\nHe told me that he looked over the security tape, and found nothing. I asked him what he meant by nothing - I only gave him a generic description of the bag because it's hard to describe in words in detail what a bag looks like. I told him that I wasn't expecting him to look over the tape, I thought I was going to be looking at it, but because of privacy reasons, I'm not allowed to look at the security tape - sure, fair enough.\n\nSo then I suggest to give him a picture of what my bag looks like, it's a fairly expensive gym bag from a well-known brand so I wouldn't expect that many people in a 15-minute window to walk out with it. He basically told me that there's no point showing me a picture because he already looked over the tape and found nothing. He also added that I should expect things like this to happen at a gym in downtown Toronto.\n\nI was absolutely appalled at his response. I could not believe that a theft involving $5000 worth of merchandise was being brushed off as an everyday coincidence. I honestly thought that GoodLife would be more concerned for the security of their customers. By that point, I knew the guy just didn't care at all, and went home feeling disgusted. I also accepted the fact that I will never see my lost items again.\n\nI called the GoodLife corporate offices and they were apologetic on his behalf but told me I need to get a police report to get permission to view the tape myself. I'm not exactly sure why management didn't suggest this in the first place. The problem is that the Toronto police have a lot more to deal with than petty theft and by the time they get to your minor case, it's likely that GoodLife would've deleted the tape for that day (they only keep security footage for 2 weeks).\n\nSometimes thefts occur, and Gerrad (the assistant manager dealing with the situation) was correct in that it tends to happen more frequently in urban areas. While I was very upset about losing my things, life moves on and I was able to replace everything fairly quickly. However, I just could not stomach their reaction to this incident. I have a hard time stepping foot into this gym without feeling somewhat betrayed, and I try to go to the other GoodLife locations whenever I can - but sometimes this is the only location nearby offering that specific gym class at that specific time.\n\nAnyway, long story short, if your item gets stolen, file a police report immediately, but also don't expect to get your items back. It's a really frustrating experience, but in the whole grand scheme of things, it's just not worth getting mad over because it's beyond your control. The management here was extremely unhelpful in my situation, but I sincerely hope that they are a little bit more compassionate with your case. Best of luck."^^ . . . . "1"^^ . "1"^^ . "1"^^ .
