It is not worth it and has lost the shine both for quality and service. \n\nI arrived in Phoenix in 1958 and as a young boy ---- Monti's was one of the few steakhouses - and was world renown. We did not eat there often but when we did it was a treat. When my grandfather was near death but still able to go out -- he chose Monti's as the last rest he went to. .\n\nWhen I married and had a growing family ----- we took all our boys there and had wonderful experiences. However, my bet is the last ten years it has deteriorated significantly. A few years ago my wife wanted the filet Mignon so we went the night it was on special ----- wouldn't you know it ---- it was no longer the special - and the manager told me that they could not provide the quality of meat at that low of price so they shifted to prime rib. \n\nWell we still continued to go and three years ago we started another family tradition of eating there for Christmas Eve. Two times the service stunk but the food seemed to be good quality. This past Christmas we were presently surprised to find out we could get the room where Hayden was born. We now have eaten in the room twice - and for my birthday last Friday they were able to provide the room. My entire family loved it ------ but the service really was below par. We arrived at 6 and were seated - but waiting for a few stragglers. I asked the waitress for the bread ------ and we did not get bread for one hour. She made some excuse that they were out of it ---- I responded and told her that my bet was that Mr. Monti was trying to cut costs and told the staff to hold up delivery of bread ----- she sorta of nodded her head yes. The bread arrived two minutes before the food ----- this is fine dining? \n\nThen when the waitress took drink orders - she did one side of the table left and did not take the order right away for the other side ---- we had to ask. \n\nAs to the food ------ they have CHANGED THE MENU AND NOT FOR THE BETTER. Things my children remembered (they are now men) were missing. The steak section says my steak was a filet ---- iN MY opinion this was not filet mingon ----- My supposedly 7 oz filet mignon tasted more like ground chuck but was very difficult to cut and chew. You have go to be kidding me. The rest of my family ----- was not impressed ------ and said Dad --- WE ARE NEVER COMING BACK HERE. \n\nThen, I had no idea my family brought a cake from a bakery--- and they forgot to bring it in ---- the waitress tried to make an excuse. I don't think they deserved the mandatory 18 percent tip and we surely did not provide more. \n----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nIt is sad for us ---- because we have loved Monti's but it is just not up to standard. You have just lost our business ---- that is 9 people ---- The glory days for Monti's is over. ----- Some people just can't let something good alone. \nWhile at dinner last Friday night we learned that Monti is running for Mayor of Tempe ------- Maybe you should focus on the business."^^ .
