I just HATE FREAKING CENTURYLINK'S SERVICE SO MUCH THAT I WILL RANT ABOUT IT HERE.\n\nMy husband and I had a salesman come to our door & we were kind enough to listen to him. All he had to say sounded great so we began considering his deals. The salesman said that CL offers a teacher's discount when he found out I was a teacher (we called a few days later & there was no such thing). We were told our monthly bill would be around $48, which was a few dollars less than what we were paying for Cox but we thought with the teacher discount, it would be even less! We were told our bill would be around $160ish the first time because of instillation fees. Finally we gave in when he said we got a 30 day free trial. \n\nHe set us up for someone to come by our home to install the service. We were told between 9am-1pm. Well here comes the day they were supposed to come. I'm hanging out at home all day because I don't know when they're gonna show up, even though like everyone I had stuff to do. \n12:30 rolls around & still no one is here. I had my husband call because he's the person on the account & see what's going on. The people on the phone were very nice & said the tech will be out soon & that he would call my husband with an estimated time. No call. It is now 2pm. My husband calls again to see what's going on, and again they tell him that the tech will contact him in a few minutes with estimated time. No call. It is now 4pm and I am UTTERLY PISSED. My husband calls AGAIN & asks where the heck the tech is. They tell us he's on his way & we tell them we need to leave at 6 so we can't stay that long. They reassure is that the tech will call & tell us when he gets here. No call. The dude shows up around 5pm. He's only got an hour to set up everything & of course it's not enough time. It is 6:10 & we are late for our appointment when installation is finally done. Tech had to do something on the computer twice because the first time it wouldn't set up, that's why it took him so long apparently. We overlook this incident in hopes that this is all worth it with the new, faster, cheaper internet service. \n\nEverything was fine the first few days but then my shows started freezing up while I was watching, and how was that to be when we supposedly got faster speeds than Cox? Hmm... Interesting. Lies. We decided not to cancel Cox & keep going for the trial for now. That was until today. After 2 weeks of having this subpar internet service, we got a bill for $235. $235!!! What the hell?! What happened to $160???\n\nApparently we were charged TWICE for installation because the tech screwed up the first time. How is this normal, CL? Are you guys dumb or did you just think we're fools? Why would we need installation twice?\n\nAND not only did they charge us twice for that, but we are supposed to pay $60 a month for this the Internet instead of the $48 \"plus teacher discount\" we were promised. \n\nNO THANK YOU CENTURYLINK. BYE FELICIA\n\nUpdate: We called to cancel when I posted this (2 weeks after the \"30 day free trial\" started). Century CRAP did not cancel our services and continued to charge us. We dealt with this crap for approx. 2 months. We refused to pay them a penny because we were covered under the 30 day trial. I cannot tell you how many calls and conversations my poor husband had to have with this horrible company, to no avail. Each time he talked to someone, they promised they would take care of it. Lies. All lies. After not paying them for over 2 months, they sent us to collections. WTF. That affected our credit score. Thank GOD that my husband got lucky and talked to a helpful CL employee on the phone who understood our problems and took it out of collections and erased what we owed to CL. \n\nDon't settle for this company. You are so much better than that."^^ .
