"2017-11-28T00:00:00"^^ . . "0"^^ . "I cannot speak to every vet employed at the hospital, but I have to assume the behavior exhibited by its staff today is sponsored behavior. This morning 'Dr.' Laura Klaassen spoke to me about my pet like she was peddling a used clunker at a car lot. Post a preliminary examination and prior to ANY tests I was asked \"what is your budget?\" by a technician and presented with a $1200 invoice. The technician's voice shook as she justified each line item on the two page document and she repeatedly made it a point there were a lot extras on the bill that were not critical recommendations. I decided go ahead with an X-ray to see if we even needed all the other tests (my idea, not hers). Out of the two x-rays I was shown, one was very poorly taken where his body was twisted and from this X-ray she made a damning diagnosis that his intestines were bunched up to one side and we need to give him an IV, hospitalize him, do another X-ray tomorrow morning and possible surgery. The surgery would be to \"Look around in there to see if something was obstructing his intestines and make sure his organs are alright.\" We then received another itemized bill for surgery, testing, supplies and medications costing over $2600. \n\nI brought my father along to help with the cat and we both began to feel very uncomfortable with escalating charges and lack of logical-medical justification. We left to get a second opinion and asked for the x-rays. The second vet confirmed the x-rays were poorly taken and there was also a 3rd X-ray (which Dr. Klaassen did not show us) which shows his body positioned straight and not twisted and his intestines were normal and not all bunched to one side. I would say they should be ashamed, but from how uncomfortably Laura Klaassen delivered her spiel to us, it is clear she already is. \n\nMy cat is feeling better after some simple anti-nausea and hydration(no IV). Find someone you trust is the lesson of the day."^^ . "2"^^ . "1"^^ . "0"^^ . . .
