Situated in Saint-Marc-Sur-Richelieu, about 45 minutes from Montreal, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.\nI stumbled upon this place through a quick google search for a vegetarian sugar shack (didn't even know such thing existed). For those who are unfamiliar with the world of sugar shack, usually sugar shack has 4 main ingredients: pork, beans, checkered shirts, and maple syrup. It's usually not very vegetarian friendly. \nAnyways, we got there, parked our car and there's a nice little 3 minutes walk in the woods which was beautiful, you can wait for the trucker to pick you up but it's a nice little walk in my opinion. \nThere's way too much food which I'm not complaining; you always eat too much at sugar shacks anyway. The chick pea soup was delicious one of the best I've had so far. \nTheir was sausage, baked beans, boiled potatoes, omelette, big ass smoked ham, and meat balls with gravy. And the only way to eat all this is to pour the maple syrup like the frank's sauce, you put that sh_t on everything.\nIf you get the vegetarian option, you will get lentil cretons (which are also gluten free) and a tofu stew.\nDessert includes: crepes, buckwheat pancakes, sugar pie, and fruit cake.\nThe ambiance was very \"cantine\" like. Long tables; sitting next to other people, live accordion playing Quebecer folklore to get in the mood to swing la bacaisse dans le fond de la bo\u00EEte a bois. \nTop it all off with all you can eat \"la tire sur neige\". And there you go you have a full cabane \u00E0 sucre exp\u00E9rience \u00E0 la bonne franquette. \nOverall it's a great place, great ambiance; vegetarians might get a bit disappointed with the lack of choices but it's a start. They get an A for effort in my book.\n\nFun fact: you get a menu telling you which choices are pork free, gluten free, lactose free or eggs free."^^ . "4"^^ .
